hey ladies! I'm graduating in May (yay!!!) and I've begun the full time job search...any tips for me??? I'm a psychology major looking for a job in human resources or anything in social services. (although I'm not being picky...I would take any full time job with benefits!)

Ashley, I graduated May '09, so I know just where you are at! I wanted to have a job right after graduating and start working asap, well I applied all over for my whole last semester, and I got no response!!! I was really getting upset because I had a big family wedding in May a week after graduation and I wanted to impress them that I had a job and such (I come from a family that went to Duke, Tulane, George Washington University, NYU and the list goes on... while I went to a state college and got my BA in Art) well no such luck, still they were very proud of my graduating (almost too proud I felt, my cousin just graduated law school and no one made a big deal outta that...) ANYWAYS back to the main story It was really frusterating not finding a job, I am smart and a hardworker. I finally settled on a job selling Cutco Knives in peoples homes (ever heard of them?). Obv not my dream job, I was the only graduate working there (the rest were in college) But it was a job so I worked my butt off (even tho alot fo people thought my job was a joke. Well I sold $10,000 in knives that summer and learned alot about sales and self motivation. The company is based on a referall system and one of the referalls I got really loved my sales and not only bought knives from me, but a month later contacted me for a job interview. She was the Marketing Director at the DCU Center in Worcester MA (Arena and convention center) Well I got the job and coultn't be happier, its full time with benifits (I even have my own office!) and I get to work with amazing people and go to great events! I guess to moral of this wicked long story is that times are tough and no matter how good you are, you might have to wait and settle for a little. Just work hard at whatever you do and things will work out. I just never saw my path going in this direction! So I hope that at least give you motivation if anything!
