Username vs. Display name:Your username is what you use to log into the site. Your display name is what shows when you post. Your username can NOT be changed, whereas your display name can be changed when you edit your profile. To do so, click the 'profile' link at the toolbar on the top. For example, my username is 'admin'. I type this in along with my password to log in. My display name right now is 'Chelsey ' which is what you see when I post. Exalt vs. Smite and Karma:When you see someone else post, you will see two links: exalt and smite (under where it says 'Karma'). What exactly is the Karma Feature? The Karma feature is simply a point system. Exalt means +1 point, Smite means - 1 pt. Who can 'vote' Karma on members?Any Registered member can 'vote' plus or minus one Karma point once per hour. So basically, if you like a member or their post, you can exalt them. If you don't like something they have done, smite them! Why is your name a different color?Username colors show what position a member is in at the boards. Administrators are purple. Moderators are green. B/S/T Verified! are blue.

chelsey, i have no idea how to do the picture thing. what site did you use to host your picture? If you are talking about my avatar/user picture, go to photobucket.com, upload the picture, you will see a link called 'direct link' and it has all of the http://www jargon. Copy that link and paste it in the section that says Avatar URL. You will find the avatar url section when you click on the profile link at the top of the site.

The 'exalt' and 'smite' choices seem a bit silly, , but I love the rest of the board so far.

I just wondered if anyone has figured out notifications yet, because if not, i'm sticking with facebook. Sorry! Their system isn't the same as FB, I talked to a techie guy for proboards last night and he had a good suggestion. You can 'bookmark' a thread by clicking a button near the top of the post. Then, to see all of your book marked posts, you click on 'profile', then bookmarks. It shows every bookmarked thread and whether or not it has new posts. The forums on the internet don't really nave notifications, that's more of a social networking website (ie FB) thing. It really isn't hard to navigate without the notifications, though. TPF doesn't have notifications, do they?

I forgot about the no selling at TPF! I just lurk there... No problem, who knows, proboards seems to update their software so this may be an option for the future!

btw, there are notifications there if you get a private message. I'm phasing out of VB anyway so it's no biggie! I do prefer the organization here though.
